The Grand Opening of the New Integrated Emergency Communications Center Bamberg-Forchheim
After nearly three years of construction, the new Integrated Emergency Communications Center Bamberg-Forchheim in Buttenheim has officially opened. From this facility, approximately 125,000 emergency calls and responses for fire and EMS services will be coordinated each year, serving the City of Bamberg and the districts of Bamberg and Forchheim.
The new facility provides the region with a command center designed to meet the growing demands of emergency call-taking, dispatch, and fire and EMS response. From the outset, our planning focused on safety, efficient operations, and high-quality ergonomic working conditions for a demanding 24/7 environment.
The L-shaped building clearly separates the emergency communications and administrative areas while connecting them through a two-story entrance lobby that serves as a central space for communication and interaction. Abundant natural light, views of the surrounding landscape, and generous skylights create a welcoming work environment and provide a sense of balance to the highly technical nature of the emergency communications center.
A flexible wood-hybrid structural system and the column-free emergency dispatch area allow the facility to adapt to changing operational needs and future requirements. This flexibility was a key consideration in creating a facility designed to serve the region for many years to come.
We are proud to have contributed to the safety and resilience of the region through this project. We particularly valued the culture of mutual respect that shaped the project and the shared goal of creating a forward-looking emergency communications center.
