Building Culture in the Face of Climate Change

Two Trapez projects featured in the exhibition “#Urban Design In Climate Change” and the lecture series “Projects 2026” as part of the Heinze ArchitekTOUR

How can we achieve construction that is climate-friendly, socially equitable, and at the same time design-led and high-quality? This is the central question addressed by the exhibition “#Stadtgestalt im Klimawandel” (#UrbanDesignInClimateChange), organized by the Hamburg Foundation for Building Culture (Hamburger Stiftung Baukultur). For its latest expansion, the exhibition called for projects from the Hamburg metropolitan region that showcase diverse approaches to sustainable planning and construction.

Among the selected works were two projects by Trapez Architektur: the Bünningstedt primary school and the Bünningstedt fire station, also located in Bünningstedt. Both were presented as part of the Heinze ArchitekTOUR 26 in Hamburg, an event highlighting current projects, fresh impulses, and opportunities for professional exchange.

The Bünningstedt primary school was also the subject of one of the Pecha Kucha talks. In this compact 20-minute format, our colleague Janine Feddersen guided the audience through the project’s development – from Phase Zero to the completed school and everyday school life today.

We are pleased to have contributed two of our projects to the Hamburg Foundation for Building Culture’s exhibition, thereby taking part in the ArchitekTOUR and the broader dialogue on a future-ready building culture. The updated exhibition will also be on view starting November 6, 2026, at the Authority for Urban Development and Housing (Behörde für Stadtentwicklung und Wohnen, BSW), Neuenfelder Straße 19, 21109 Hamburg.
